Hello,
I've developed a "generic" vi which allows to define a set of scattered memories to observe.
You give the localisation of each memory to spy, the delay between two poll, and the tool gives you:
the contents of the memory,
a red led if the contents has changed,
a red led if there is a error during the read.
To define a set of memory can be fastidious so the user can write it in a file to retrieve it later. One can write several set in a file (each one can be considered as a subset of a problem -Channel1Registers, Channel2Registers ...-). Then, when the user read this file he can click on the "next button" or on the "this one" button.

This tool is designed to access to one or several VME crate through the VIC bus (a concurrent of the VXI) from a Sun. It can be easily adapted by changing the heart of the read stage in the diagram. The most important is the skeleton. Let me know if you improve or adapt it.

It is developed with the LV beta 31 release (I wait again for the official 3.0).

Please send me your comment. I put it in the standard place: on the ftp.pica.army.mil site in the /pub/labview/incoming directory. If you want more information let me know, I intend to write a user manual but do not expect an answer before 1994..

Happy Hollidays

christophe
