This discussion reminds me in some ways of the conditional disable
structure, with both persistence between runs, and possible IDE runtime
behavior modification. It also has a relatively familiar interface, hooks
into the compiler, and likely significant coding infrastructure already in
place.
OTOH, this may be too limiting for what people are looking for, and not
allow more generic tools to be built and "overlayed" on any block diagram.
Well, it's a thought anyway... :)
