This is for the professional programmer. Well-known author Gary Johnson teaches LabVIEW to everybody! Blessed by National Instruments, the developers of LabVIEW. Step-by-step information to fully network LabVIEW. CD of virtual instruments and tools. Let the LabVIEW experts show you how to leverage the power of the world's fastest-growing graphical programming platform! In the test and measurement market, LabVIEW has become the dominant platform for graphical programming on both PCs and Macintoshes, as well as Sun and HP workstations. Advances in the LabVIEW development and runtime environments have made it increasingly competitive with textual languages like C--even in applications outside its traditional instrumentation market. Still, there hasn't been a resource--written by top experts--that shows advanced users, professional developers, and computer-scientists how to make the most of LabVIEW and its popular C language... until now. Gary Johnson's LabVIEW Power Programming brings together some of the world's foremost LabVIEW authorities, who explore such critically important topics as software quality assurance, format software engineering methods, networking, and other advanced techniques that simply aren't covered anywhere else. Written by a "Who's Who of LabVIEW," this one-of-a-kind, advanced LabVIEW programming book features: everything you need to know to fully network LabVIEW; in-depth discussions of interapplication communication and calls to external code; a LabVIEW software quality assurance (SQA) guide and toolkit; examination of mathematics, simulation, and signal processing issues. The book comes with a CD-ROM that provides numerous "virtual instruments" written in software. What's more, you'll also find a wide variety of LabVIEW programming tools and utilities--all expressly designed to boost the productivity of advanced LabVIEW users<top>

    WARNING:

Though this book is very good, due to extremely poor production quality by Prentice-Hall the figures are unreadable. The authors no longer recommend purchasing this book. You can download the examples however.

just as you would find in any software engineering text, but with all examples written in LV and with focus on the features LV has uniquely for building good software. It took me only a few days to read through, but it was well worth it. It is a summary of all the things this list (info-labview) has preached over the years. Writing LabVIEW software to perform a complex task is never easy, especially when those last-minute feature requests cause a complexity explosion in your system, forcing you to rework much of your code! Jon Conway and Steve Watts offer a better solution: LCOD-LabVIEW Component Oriented DesignÑwhich, for the first time, applies the theories and principles of software design to LabVIEW programming. The material is presented in a lighthearted, engaging manner that makes learning enjoyable, even if you're not a computer scientist.

This book is intended for test engineers, system integrators, electronics engineers, software engineers, and other intermediate to advanced LabVIEW programmers. None of the methods discussed are complex, so users can benefit as soon as they are proficient with the syntax of LabVIEW.Go to the companion Web site located at http://author.phptr.com/watts/ for full source code and book updates. <top>

The hands-on, simulation-based introduction to analog electronics. Analog Electronics with LabVIEW is the first comprehensive introduction to analog electronics that makes full use of computer simulation. Kenneth L. Ashley introduces analog electronics through a series of theory/project sections, in which theoretical presentations correlate directly with circuit measurement and analysis projects. The results of experiments are used to extract device model parameters used in subsequent electronic circuit analysis, providing a significant enhancement in the understanding of modern, computer-based electronic-circuit simulation. Readers will master not only the fundamentals of analog electronics, but also data acquisition and circuit simulation with LabVIEW, basic circuit-solution computation with Mathcad, and circuit simulation with Cadence Schematics or Capture. Coverage includes:

For those new to LabVIEW, the book also contains a complete introductory tutorial with emphasis relevant to analog-electronics applications. CD-ROM INCLUDED The accompanying CD-ROM includes a complete copy of LabVIEW 6 Student Edition Software, along with all the LabVIEW, Mathcad, and Schematics (or Capture) files you need to perform the experiments and exercises in this book, plus samples of all project measurement and data files for measurement simulation. This textbook consists of a series of 14 theory units followed by a series of 12 computer-based laboratory projects. Ashley (electrical engineering, Southern Methodist University) covers basic circuit analysis, the characterization of the PMOS and NMOS transistor, PMOS and NMOS common source amplifiers, MOSFET transistors, and operational amplifiers. The CD-ROM contains LabVIEW 6 student edition and Mathcad exercises. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR <top>

My book "Image Acquisition and Processing with LabVIEW" has been released by CRC Press, and is now available! "Image Acquisition and Processing With LabVIEW" combines the general theory of image acquisition and processing, the underpinnings of LabVIEW and the NI Vision toolkit, examples of their applications, and real-world case studies in a clear, systematic, and richly illustrated presentation. Designed for LabVIEW programmers, it fills a significant gap in the technical literature by providing a general training manual for those new to National Instruments (NI) Vision application development and a reference for more experienced vision programmers.

A CD-ROM packaged with the book contains libraries of the example images and code referenced in the text, additional technical white papers, a demonstration version of LabVIEW, and an NI IMAQ demonstration that guides you through its features.

More information, including ordering details, can be found at the following website (don't forget to click on "Reviews" at the top of the page to read what Jeff Kodosky, Jeffrey Travis and Bruce Ammons have to day about the book).

Several National Instruments Discussion Forum subscribers helped me put this book together, by providing real-world examples of code and applications, so you will probably recognise their names: Don J Roth, Neal Pederson, Bruce Ammons, Christopher Reed, Christophe Salzmann, Anne Brumfield, Peter Parente, Dave Ritter, and more...<top>
